After horrific news of Kobe Bryant’s passing on Sunday, many NBA players showed a tribute to Kobe on the court.
Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young wore jersey number 8, Kobe’s original number based on his Adidas camp number. In addition, the Hawks took an 8-second and 24-second violation in remembrance to Kobe’s contribution to the league.
Other teams, such as the Detroit Pistons, wore numbers 8 and 24 on their jerseys. The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers game have been rescheduled in respect of Kobe’s death.
Recently there has been discussion of several teams retiring both jersey numbers to pay tribute to the legend. In addition, fans have also put together a petition to change the NBA logo. It currently displays a silhouette of Lakers great and Hall of Famer Jerry West. On several social media accounts, there is a new image floating around with the silhouette of Kobe Bryant. Currently, the petition has gained speed with nearly 2.8 million signatures.

January 30, 2020 Creator of the NBA logo, Alan Siegel, says to Newsweek, “I'm really proud of the logo, it's been something that's been recognized around the world, but if the current players want to recognize someone that's made a difference, like Kobe, and if the commissioner wanted to do so, I would support it…”
Duane from Duane’s Sports Rap and DeShaun Tate from Tate’s Takes both agree something needs to be done to show tribute to the legend, Kobe Bryant.
