Hack: 2019 Master was Tiger's best Sunday ever

Damon Hack joined Dukes & Bell Monday to talk about Tiger Woods winning the Masters and whether this was the greatest sports comeback of all time?

Hack gave us his thoughts on Woods winning his first major in 11 years.

“I’ve been barely about to wrap my mind around the last 24 hours,” Hack said. “The guy had become a punchline. He was able to get it done against all these players, these Tiger babies, the best players in the world and this is one of the greatest comebacks in sports history.”

Damon said that he feels like the tournament changed Sunday at the 12th hole.

“I think everything kind of changed on 12,” Hack said. “That’s where Koepka hit it in the water, that’s where Molinari hit it in the water and I think Tiger kind of went, 'OK.' He went ultimate Dean Smith after that. He used his brain his savvy, and it was all Tiger Woods from that point. The whole sports world might have doubted him but he had enough gumption to get it done.”

Hack said the story of Tiger’s comeback has transcended golf.

“I think some people had Tiger fatigue,” Hack said. “Just look at the ratings though. I think Tiger’s comeback has been an appreciation for a guy who is more relatable, a divorced guy with a receding hairline. He’s a much more relatable character, a much more human character, and this is a story that transcends golf.”

Was this Tiger’s best performance ever?

“I think it was his best Sunday in golf,” Hack said. “I say that knowing all that he’s done in golf. This he was able to share with his kids, this was Tiger being able to do it on his own terms. I really believe deep down inside he wanted to prove to his kids what his dad does for a living. Tiger has gone full circle now, he’s now a man, he’s now a father and that’s what we saw yesterday, his greatest victory number 81, number 15 and number 5.”
