What's the deal with Josh Donaldson?

The Atlanta Braves have yet to re-sign free agent third baseman Josh Donaldson to a new contract.

Told by someone who should know that #Braves have indeed made a 4-year offer to Josh Donaldson. @Feinsand today reported Nationals, Twins have also made 4-year offers along with Braves.

According to David O'Brien of The Athletic, the Braves have extended a four-year offer to Donaldson. However, there are reports of four-year offers from the Minnesota Twins and Washington Nationals.

If Donaldson doesn't get signed by the Braves and goes elsewhere, what do the Braves do with that part of the lineup?

"You got to get Josh because of the consistency in the lineup behind Freddie (Freeman)," Randy McMichael said.

"If (Donaldson's) not here, you're talking about doing a rotating third-baseman between (Johan) Carmargo and Austin Riley, whoever. Then who's going to play in that fourth spot when one guy's starting and one's not?"

Randy believes Donaldson wants to be back with the Braves but it comes down to the money.

"Josh, to me, seems like he the type of cat that 'I ain't giving up no money to come back to Atlanta. Oh, it's a difference of $5 million?' So...there's nothing wrong with not giving a hometown discount."

Andy Bunker says he'd be willing to pay Josh what he wants even if the last two years aren't great.
