The Atlanta Braves fell 3- 2 to the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday in 10 innings. The Braves started with a 2-0 lead until the seventh inning where they relinquished said lead.
Duane Walker believes the Braves did not address the underlying issue during the offseason, which was the starting pitching. Also, they left out a deeper issue that’s been going on since last year, which is a pitcher that will help the Braves actually produce wins.
"Our pitching is a problem," said Walker. "Kimbrel wants a five-year deal. If I’m Kimbrel, I’m making the Braves pay for me. Fans chant for Kimbrel's return, which we can imagine Alex Anthropolous may be considering now as there was talk back in February of him possibly becoming a Brave."
Kimbrel wore a Braves jersey from 2010-2014, compiling a 1.43 ERA over five seasons and notching 186 saves.
Now the Braves are in dire need of a pitcher. Braves fans were optimistic for this group of pitchers including Gausman, Teheran, Toussaint. But, it seems that they may not be enough.
