Atlanta United color analyst Jason Longshore joined Jon Chuckery and Randy McMichael Saturday to recap the 5 Stripes 3-1 loss at C.S. Herediano in Costa Rica in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League matchup.

Longshore on what happened Thursday: “You can try to replicate game speed in training, but you just can’t. Herediano has already played some games this season and were ready to go. Atlanta United did not look sharp.”

Longshore on the first game without Miguel Almiron: “What this team is trying to do is control games in a better way. It is going to be really good if all comes together, but it takes longer for everything to come together. When you had someone with the speed of Almiron it makes things easy because you can send balls over the top and have him go chase it.”

Longshore on Josef Martinez: “I think Josef will be just fine. He had one great chance and missed it just wide. He will continue to get good service this year but it will be a different type of service.”

Longshore went on to talk about lineups and tactics and how both could change moving forward.
