On this day in 2007, the Boston Red Sox entered the bottom of the third inning trailing 3-0 to the New York Yankees on Sunday Night Baseball. Things would change in the blink of an eye.

Despite Yankees lefty Chase Wright retiring the first two batters he faced in the inning, the Red Sox left the home half of the third with a 4-3 lead, thanks to four consecutive home runs from Manny Ramirez, J.D. Drew, Mike Lowell and Jason Varitek:

With the great Jon Miller and Joe Morgan on the call for ESPN, the Red Sox would defeat the Yankees 7-6 in a game that proved pretty crucial when you consider that Boston only edged out New York by two games to win the 2007 American League East title.

The quartet of Ramirez, Drew, Lowell and Varitek would combine for 69 home runs during the 2007 season, in addition to the team-leading 35 that future Hall of Famer David Ortiz would hit. Lowell would win the 2007 World Series MVP, with the Red Sox sweeping the Colorado Rockies to win their second championship in four seasons.
