The 2021 Georgia High School Association Girls Flag Football state playoffs got underway on Tuesday as the second season the sport has been a sanctioned GHSA sport began to wind down. The first two rounds of the playoffs took place on Tuesday as teams looked to go 2-0 on the day to advance to the quarter finals which will take place on Thursday.

Winners on the day included in 1A-4A Pace Academy, who battled through Morgan County and Sumter County and they will face Calvary Day, who knocked off Statesboro and LaGrange. Pacelli took down both Effingham County and Tri Cities and they will take on Long County, who made it through Swainsboro and Shaw. Portal, St. Vincent, Columbus and SE Bulloch are the other 1A-4A teams that advanced to the quarterfinals.


In 5A-6A, Riverwood fought off Evans and Mt Zion of Jonesboro and now have a date with McDonough, who survived the day with wins over Dooly and Woodland-Stockbridge. It was also a good day for Trinity Christian as they took down Lovejoy and Central-Carrollton, setting them up to take on Dodge County, who weathered the storm, getting past Locust Grove and Rockdale.
