A tale of two Arthurs and one big decision

Mike Bell and Steak Shapiro share their thoughts on how the final two games may impact Arthur Smith's future as Falcons head coach

While the Atlanta Falcons have go back to Taylor Heinicke under center for what appears to be the remainder of the season, the harsh reality for the team is that despite how the season comes to an end, many questions still circulate around the future of the team, including what they will do at quarterback and if they will consider moving on from Arthur Smith as head coach of the franchise.

On Thursday during the Dukes and Bell Show on 92-9 The Game, with Steak Shapiro sitting in for Carl Dukes, Mike Bell and Shapiro shared their thoughts on all the areas of concern that they believe Atlanta will have to address during the offense. In addition to what direction they will go with the quarterback position, both Bell and Shapiro agreed that the most important decision will be that of Arthur Blank and whether or not he wants to bring Smith back as the head coach.

While both host believe that Smith’s chance to return are likely high, they agree that he could stripped of his play calling duties and each of them do not see any problem should Smith lose the responsibility of play calling. “The problem with a coaching change is you’re flipping the whole building,” Shapiro responded to Bell as he shared his thoughts on what Blank would decide to do should the Falcons fail to secure wins in their final two games.
