The Manning quarterback dynasty could soon be authoring a new chapter in the college ranks -- and perhaps beyond.
Arch Manning, the grandson of former Saints star Archie Manning and the nephew of Peyton and Eli, was recently named by 247Sports.com as the No. 1 quarterback prospect and the fifth overall at any position in the recruiting class of 2023.
Arch's father, Cooper Manning, who is the eldest of Archie Manning's sons, was also a touted prep player -- at wide receiver -- and committed to playing at Ole Miss, where his father and brother Eli starred, though his career was cut short by spinal stenosis.
Arch is a sophomore at Isidore Newman in New Orleans, the same private school where all of Cooper, Peyton and Eli Manning played their high school football.
Arch's coach said the burgeoning young quarterback has the right disposition despite any pressure he might feel associated with his famous lineage.
“While certainly his name looms very large, he’s able to play within himself,” head coach Nelson Stewart said.
Manning made quick work of the competition as a freshman starter last season, racking up nearly 2,500 passing yards to go along with 34 touchdowns and only six interceptions.
It appears likely that Manning will be able to play just about wherever he wishes in college. The teen has already received scholarship offers from some of the nation's top football programs, the report said, including Alabama, LSU, Georgia, as well as Ole Miss and Tennessee, where uncle Peyton played.
Manning's family is planning on taking his recruiting process slowly, Stewart said.
