“We obviously know how good the Atlanta Braves are, right?”
That was the question 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery asked on air Wednesday night as teams prepare for the 2023 Major League Baseball Opening Day on Thursday. And while the Braves' talent level may be considered one of the best among MLB teams, the number of players that are 26 years of age or younger makes the Braves the No. 2 ranked team on FOX Sports list of 26 and under power rankings. Chuckery finds no reason to disagree with the list.
“When you look at this roster, it’s the idea of Ozzie, Riley, Michael Harris, Ronnie, Kyle Wright, Strider, Ian Anderson, even Dodd and Shuster, like they aren’t just good, they’re really young and good,” Chuckery said of the Braves roster which he noted does have its “mix of veterans” such as Charlie Morton and Max Fried and Travis d’Arnaud. Chuckery would go one to point out that thanks to a good portion of the Braves roster being young, they were able to sign them on “team-friendly deals” as some like to point out.
“Part of that is because they’re so young,” Chuckery continued, adding that they Braves were able to get the deals with this players due to the fact that they the reality is they do not have a lot of experience and that it was a “big bargain.”
