Braves can't be cheap when it comes to acquiring a frontline starting pitcher

The Braves were able to salvage the series vs the Dodgers on Wednesday night behind Bryce Elder. Elder joins Dylan Dodd and Jared Shuster as rookies being counted on to fill the gaps in the team’s starting rotation right now. Dukes & Bell say the club cannot afford to shop on the cheap when it comes to acquiring another starter.

“This is a year where Alex (Anthopoulos) can’t do this on the cheap when it comes to starting pitching. I think he will have to take on a contract or two, as opposed to getting somebody with a pre-existing contract,” Mike Bell explained.

Michael Soroka also remains in Triple-A Gwinnett awaiting his call-up to the majors. He continues to make his way back from multiple Achillies injuries.
