The Atlanta Braves are off to a nice start this season, and a big reason why is because of the contributions they’ve gotten offensively and defensively from guys like Mauricio Dubón or Dominic Smith that wouldn’t be everyday players or wouldn’t be getting the number of at-bats that they are now if the Braves had a fully healthy squad, and earlier today 92.9 The Game’s very own Braves insider and reporter Grant McAuley joined The Morning Shift and explained why he thinks this is the "deepest roster" that Atlanta has had in a while.
“This is the deepest roster, one through twenty-six, now that I’ve seen in quite some time for the Braves. They have an actual legitimate usable bench with arguments to make for hey maybe this guy should get these at-bats today and Walt Weiss is doing that.” Grant said
It’s unrealistic to think that guys like Dubón or Smith will continue to produce the way they have offensively all season long, but with catcher Sean Murphy and shortstop Ha-Seong Kim returning sooner rather than later they won’t have to, and having guys you can rely on to step in and produce whether it’s to give a guy a day-off or to fill-in for someone who might be on an IL stint will be key to the Braves success this season.
