The Atlanta Braves starting rotation still has a lot of question marks as the 2022 Major League Baseball season approaches. While Max Fried, Charlie Morton and Ian Anderson have solidified the top three spots, the fourth and fifth spots remain an open competition.
For Morton, it seems like he's on track to return on time from a broken leg he suffered in the Braves World Series run. Mike Soroka, who has battled and Achilles injury since 2020, isn't expected to return until midseason.
You can expect guys like Huascar Ynoa, Kyle Wright, Tucker Davidson and Kyle Muller to compete for those two spots at the back end of the rotation.
Braves manager Brian Sniker said he's likely to take a six-man rotation through the first series of the regular season.
"Big picture, the (Braves) starting rotation is a good situation," Andy Bunker of the Midday Show said.
With Fried, Anderson and Morton being a solid trio, the Braves only have to put their focus on the back-half of the rotation.
"You're battling it out with who's after that whether it's Ynoa--Kyle Wright with a really cool performance in the World Series last year and he build on that...I think Ynoa will be the four, and then you keep kind of letting these guys prove themselves."
