While the Atlanta Braves are still a sub .500 team with a 13-15 record, they have been playing much better baseball of late after getting off to an 0-7 start to the season and sitting at the bottom of the National League East. And while they remain six and half games back of the first place Mets, the Braves are 13-8 in their last 21 games and have moved themselves into third place in the division.
“I’ve never felt that way,” Audacy MLB Insider, Bret Boone, said on Tuesday when he joined Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and explained why he never believed the Braves would not be able to climb back into the NL East race. “The 0-7 start, I’m sure internally, you’re kind of looking at each other like alright is the joke over now,” Boone continued sharing his thoughts on why he believes the Braves may have questioned themselves, yet stayed the course to get back on track.
Noting several players including Austin Riley starting to find his stride, the addition of Alex Verdugo, who he believes was a “huge boost” for the Braves offense and Marcel Ozuna being the most consistent Braves’ player offensively have all been contributions to the team's slowly but surely turn around and they still await the returns of Ronald Acuna Jr. and Spencer Strider.
“I see a lot of positive things with the way they’ve started and the way they’ve rebounded, I think this team is going to be just fine,” Boone added.
