Earlier today The Morning Shift spent some time with 92.9 The Game's own Atlanta Braves insider and reporter, and host of From The Diamond Grant McAuley, and Grant explained why he thinks the Braves must get two reliable starting pitchers before the August 3rd trade deadline.
“I think they need two starters that are capable veterans who you just feel confident about handing the ball to and getting six or seven innings from. It doesn’t have to be ace level stuff, but it needs to be competitive, proven innings that’s what this rotation is missing.” Grant said
The starting pitching rotation is definitely the weakest part of the Braves team right now, and if the Braves want to be legit World Series contenders Braves General Manager Alex Anthopoulos must get Walt Weiss and the team more starting pitchers that can give them consistent quality starts, so the bullpen doesn’t have to be as taxed as it was towards the end of the first half of the season.
