Braves should handle Acuna injury with caution

As news of the Ronald Acuna Jr. MRI results being a mild abdominal strain and the Braves star outfielder officially being listed as day to day, Dukes and Bell discussed how the team should handle this. Should the team play it safe with Acuna to ensure having him healthy later in the season?

Dukes talked about how he would be cautious with Acuna this early in the season.

“Listen Acuna is so important to this team that not having him early in the season doesn’t bother me, not having him late would bother me.” Dukes said “I know it’s a long year but this is the kind of abdominal strain that could be aggravated and then all of a sudden we come back home this weekend is he listed day to day, is he not ready to go? It’s rare during the season that you get two days off in the same week, you get to travel, it’s a short series with New York, then you get another off day on Thursday.”

“If you played this right, he didn’t do anything after he left the game last night, he’s been getting treatment, he’s off today, you could have him off tomorrow and Wednesday. Travel back, Thursday off and then he’s back in the lineup and you gotta feel good about him getting back in there. If it was me, but I don’t think that’s the case and I think Acuna wants to play.”
