Dave O'Brien: 'I have no doubts' Freddie Freeman deal will 'get done' with Braves

Atlanta Braves beat writer Dave O’Brien joined Dukes & Bell and talked about the Freddie Freeman contract extension and could a new deal get done before the season is over?

When asked about when Freddie Freeman will get his contract extension from Braves.

“I think it will be, if not before the season ends I think it will be right afterward. If they want to push it they have a five-day window right after the World Series, exclusive negotiating period window with your own free agents,” O’Brien said. “I don’t know that it’ll take that long,

"I mean maybe, they have two off days coming up the next two days, maybe they’ll get it knocked out then. I don’t think it’s going to take long once they sit down to give him some numbers. It didn’t take long with [Travis] d’Arnaud, it didn’t take long with [Marcell] Ozuna when they did it in the winter. And if Freddie’s not gonna hold them to the fire and try to get the most money that he can. If he wanted to do that it would complicate things, but he just wants something fair.

“I have no doubts it’s gonna to get done, I really don’t. If I’m wrong I’ll say I’m wrong and I will say the Braves made a huge mistake if that doesn’t happen. But I think they fully intend to sign him.”
