Losing Spencer Strider for the rest of the 2024 regular season is a HUGE deal, and should not be downplayed. Despite that, this team is still really, REALLY good.
Strider was among a handful of early Cy Young Award candidates, and losing him definitely stings, but Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos has taken steps to ensure that the Braves will still be a good team if someone were to go down.
Now we just need one of them to step up.
We have already seen an Alan Winans start, and it didn't go very well. Now it's Darius Vines' opportunity to step up, with Bryce Elder ready to get the call (we assume), and the list does indeed go on.
Let us also not forget that AA is very good at pulling off trade-deadline miracles should the need still be there. Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael talk about the unfortunate loss of Strider, but you will never be able to count this Braves team out.
