The World Series is headed back to Atlanta for Games 3, 4 and 5 this weekend. The Braves fell 7-2 to the Astros in Game 2 in Houston. The big question remains: Who the heck will pitch for the Braves?
After Braves starter Charlie Morton broke his leg in Game 1, manager Brian Snitker had to use the majority of his big relievers starting in the third inning. That meant, last night, he was forced to dig deep into his bullpen, and we got a chance to see who he could use to start Games 4 and 5.
One of those guys was Kyle Wright, who had a disastrous performance in the NLCS in 2020. However, last night--in his first appearance since June 23, 2021--Wright strike out all three guys he faced in the 8th inning.
Did he do enough to prove he should be one of those Game 4 or 5 starters?
"I don't know if it's going to be a start but I think that Brian Snitker was very, very happy with what he saw there," 92.9 The Game reporter Joe Patrick told the Midday Show. "I wouldn't be surprised if it is a start because of how good he looked, and especially when you kind of compare him to what you saw from Drew Smyly last night."

Joe said there could be an advantage to the Braves start Wright against the Astros.
"The Astros probably still haven't seen a whole lot of Kyle Wright themselves, and that could play to their favor...so often you see young pitchers come up to the Major Leagues and actually have success (in their first three starts) because teams have not seen them."
"It was just great to see Kyle Wright come into that situation and not looked overwhelmed, not look like he was putting too much pressure on himself...the question with him was never about his arm talent...it's always been about if he can keep his composure on the mound."
