The Atlanta Braves have had a revolving door in the 5th spot in the rotation all season long, and the performances of those various pitchers have varied from "surprisingly effective at times" to "you can't win a game with that type of effort".
The Braves have used Bryce Elder, Tucker Davidson, Huascar Ynoa, and Kyle Muller so far (along with Jesse Chavez as an opener ), and could look to bring up Touki Toussaint or move Spencer Strider into the rotation to give them a chance to lock down the 5th starter role.

"You've tried a number of things with the 5th starter this year, none of that worked. I think you got to go out and make a move for another pitcher," says John Fricke. "How long are you going to audition and every 5th start, lose."
"Right now they got a four-man rotation, are we going to continue to audition," wonders Fricke. "So many bodies have been through, a lot of movement trying to figure this out, and it doesn't work."
"When you're a team that is struggling offensively, you can't start a game off by giving up 5 runs," declares Hugh Douglas. "They haven't shown you a lot consistently and it's time to start turning this around."
So far this season the pitchers in the 5th spot in the rotation are a combined 2-8 on the season.
While there are some who want the team to let young pitchers struggle and develop through the ups and downs, the Braves may not be in a position to allow that already trailing the New York Mets by 9 games.
