The Braves-Tigers matchup scheduled for Tuesday evening was postponed due to rain and reschedule as part of a doubleheader today before the Braves return home to Truist Park
Spencer Strider, who was scheduled to start the Tuesday game, will pitch in the opener, but AJ Smith-Shawver, who was expected to start on Wednesday before the rain-out, is not going to be the starter, the Braves are calling up Dylan Dodd, and it had many wondering why Smith-Shawver wasn't being given another start as it's his turn in the rotation, and 92.9 the Game Braves Insider Grant McAuley joined Andy and Randy to explain the reasoning.
"They had to do something, because if they did both Strider and Smith-Shawver, it would open a spot in the weekend series against Colorado on Sunday where they would have to bring somebody up," details McAuley. "Dodd keeps the Braves from getting in trouble over the weekend and allows A.J. Smith-Shawver to bump back a day and factor into the rest of the week.
Dylan Dodd has made four starts in the majors this season, posting a 2-1 record with a 6.64 ERA, spending the remainder of the season with the Gwinnett Stripers.
