After the Atlanta Braves lost their weekend series against the Boston Red Sox after a 3-1 loss in the rubber match yesterday the Braves have now dropped four consecutive series, lost 8 of their last 11 games, have fallen from 24-23 to 27-31, and now find themselves fourth in the NL East standings.
After not making it out the Wild Card round last year, and the mediocre start to this season Mike Johnson is starting to feel like this long championship window that Atlanta has because all of their core players being signed to long term and team friendly deals is being wasted.
“It just feels too much like we are missing the boat on this quote unquote dynasty that we are supposed to have just a few years ago where you have this solid core that’s signed to team friendly contracts and you hit the ground running and you find all these pitchers and you’ve got one of the best ERAs in baseball and yet it just feels like we’re being left behind. Everytime I turn on the TV I’m like this is not what I was expecting this entire season, it was like that last year, and it’s been like that this year.” Mike said
The Braves historic regular season offense in 2023 went cold in the postseason, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Spencer Strider missed most of 2024, which contributed to the regular season struggles and early playoff exit last season, but now with Acuña Jr. and Strider both back and getting into a rhythm heading into June where the Braves are 42-10 in that month over the last two years hopefully June 2025 is no different and the Braves can go on a run, make up some ground in the standings, and be the World Series contenders everyone knows they can be.
