Former Mets Pitcher Nelson Figueroa joined Dukes & Bell and talked Freddie Freeman's contract situation, plus what does Freddie Freeman mean to the Braves organization.
Figueroa talked about it the looming contract situation has hurt Freddie Freeman’s performance this season.
“I don’t know if that’s so much of a distraction for that guy, he’s just been incredible, he’s such a staple in the Atlanta area, I can’t imagine him being anywhere else quite frankly,” Figueroa said. “It’s just a formality, he’s not going to put that extra pressure on himself, yea the batting average is down but he’s still one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball, especially with RBI situations.”
“He’s got one of those swings that just adapts to anyone’s weapon of choice, the guys that can throw the high fastball, he’s got a swing for that. The guys that throw the down and in back foot slider, he’s got a swing for that as well, not only that but he is absolutely the anchor when it comes to the defense and he’s the heart and soul of that team.”
