Jared Shuster won his first ever Major League Baseball game as a starting pitcher yesterday for the Atlanta Braves. After giving up a home run in the top of the second inning, Shuster locked in and didn’t look back after that.

The Braves young southpaw threw 4 innings of shutout baseball after giving up that homer to Jarred Kelenic, including seven strikeouts. After the game, Braves manager Brian Snitker told the media that he’s encouraged to see improvement from Shuster.

“He was really good. I mean, kinda better than the last one which is really nice.” Snitker said.

Shuster also spoke to the media postgame, and talked about feeling good about his last two big league starts.

“Yeah, much better just trusting myself, and trusting the catchers, and trusting everyone behind me. I think you know in Triple-A, you know you work on some stuff and get right. I think I feel much more comfortable now, so I’m happy with how things are going.” Shuster said.

We are watching the development of Shuster right in front of our eyes, and if he can continue to give the Braves 6 innings of one-walk, one-hit, one-run ball, along with seven strikeouts while Kyle Wright and Max Fried are on the IL, Snit, Alex Anthopoulos, and the Braves will be elated. And the rookie will most likely lock himself into that fifth starter spot even when Fried and Wright return.
