After a two-hit game against the reigning NL Cy Young winner on Tuesday night and a two-homer game Wednesday night that included a grand slam, our very own Braves Insider, Grant McAuley, told The Morning Shift that Marcell Ozuna might be starting to “figure some stuff out.”
Ozuna hit as many home runs last night against the Marlins as he had all season prior, so needless to say he’s been slumping. However, McAuley says the Braves designated hitter has been striving to put an end to his struggles.
“I can tell you that you know he’s done the work and continued to try to find ways to hit his way out of this slump, which is much easier said than done.” McAuley said. “The Braves are just looking for some kind of signs of life."
So again maybe a two-hit night against Sandy Alcantara on Tuesday and a three-hit night, which was his first of the season, last night are in fact those “signs of life” McAuley was referring to.
After their 14-6 win over the Marlins Wednesday, Atlanta now has the best record in the NL, and the second best record in Major League Baseball. Needless to say, the Braves haven’t needed a big start to the season from Ozuna. However, if Atlanta can get the guy who led the majors in home runs and RBI in a shortened 2020 season, that would make the Braves lineup that more dangerous.
