Braves getting Hall of Fame production from Matt Olson
While the Atlanta Braves saw their eight-game win streak come to an end over the weekend when they dropped two of their three games with the New York Yankees, the consistency of Atlanta first baseman, Matt Olson, who hit his 34th home run on Sunday, has been one thing the Braves have been able to rely on each night.
“It’s just continue to cement what is becoming all of a sudden and very quietly I might add, a Cooperstown type case,” 92-9 The Game Braves Insider, Grant McAuley, said as he joined Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and explained why he believes with Olson pacing towards a 50 home run season, in addition to having played in 901 consecutive games, makes the Braves’ first baseman worthy of hall of fame conversations.
“I mean multiple 50 home runs seasons in these days, you’re on a very short list. That might have been different 25 years ago when guys were hitting 60 home runs a few different times, but when you hit 50 in the game today, that’s a pretty elite thing,” McAuley said of season and career Olson is having.
“The fact that he’s playing every single day, plays a very good first base and he’s a guy I think with three, maybe four more seasons of 35 to 40 home runs, is going to be closing in on 500 homers, so you start talking about that number, you start talking about the hall of fame,” McAuley said of Olson being on a hall of fame induction trajectory.Matt Olson trending towards an 'Hall of Fame career'
