Moylan: 'Not worried' about Braves starting rotation

The Atlanta Braves have been bit by the injury bug early into this season, specifically to the starting rotation.

Mike Soroka was set to return from an Achilles injury but suffered a setback earlier this month when the Braves shut him down due to right shoulder inflammation.

Meanwhile, Max Fried is still day-to-day with a hamstring injury he suffered during April 13's game against the Marlins.

In some better news, Drew Smyly will be returning to the mound this weekend after a stint on the 10-day IL with forearm inflammation.

Peter Moylan, Braves analyst for Bally Sports South, joined the Midday Show on Friday and was asked if there is any reason to be concerned with all the injuries to the team's starting rotation.

"(Alex Anthopoulos) dealt with this last year, too. Remember we went from having five starters to one starter and we ended up having a great season last year. So, this is not foreign to him," Moylan told Andy and Randy.

"We've got Ynoa, Smyly and Bryse Wilson coming up against the Diamondbacks this weekend. Two of those guys probably weren't in the plans to be in the starting rotation but this is what they've had to for the last couple of years, so I'm not worried at all...This is why depth is so important. This is why someone like a Bryse Wilson and an Ynoa; that's why they become so important.

Moylan also pointed out that the Braves aren't the only team dealing with injuries to their starting rotations.

"Everybody's in the same boat right now. You look up and down the league, it's like the inconsistency of--the only teams that are playing well, it seems like, are the Dodgers and the Padres...It's just a strange game right now...crowds are back in there, maybe that's causing people to get a little bit more nervous I don't know. It's just been a weird start to the year. It can only get better from here, I think.
