Atlanta Braves megastar Ronald Acuña Jr, as many know, is working his way back from a second major knee surgery in 5 years. As Braves players have made their way to North Port for Spring Training to get things going, Acuña Jr was among the first to arrive. Early indications are that Acuña Jr feels great, and he sure does look great in early batting practice at-bats.
There are no score-boards safe thus far when Acuña has been at the plate. He looks great, but how does he feel?
Acuña Jr spoke to the press Friday morning, and he says that he is 90-95%. But what does this mean? Logic would tell you that if he feels 9.0-95% ready now, then in 6 weeks he would be 100% ready for opening day, but that may not necessarily be the case. The Braves have spoken publically about Acuña’s injury and rehab, not straying too far from what Acuña is saying about his own health, with the exception of him being 95% ready to go. The Braves have given a May timeline for Ronald Acuña Jr’s return, which is not too far off, as they want to make sure that there are no setbacks. We are still 6 weeks away from opening day, so timelines can surely change, and with the addition of Jurickson Profar this offseason, the Braves should not have to worry about early lack of offensive production from the outfield. What we are 100% sure about, is that the Braves will be a much better team when Ronnie comes back to the lineup, and we are ready for the team to make a 2025 postseason run. Andy Bunker and Abe Gordon talk more about the 2025 Braves, and returning superstars Ronald Acuña Jr and Spencer Strider.
