Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. left Saturday's game against the Marlins with an right leg injury after crashing into the outfield wall at LoanDepot Park in Miami.
The 23-year-old two-time All-Star exited the field on a cart after a failed attempt to walk off with the assistance of team trainers.
The severity of the injury was announced Saturday night by the Braves.
Acuna was hurt trying to corral a deep fly ball off the bat of Miami's Jazz Chisholm in the bottom of the fifth inning, awkwardly crumpling to the dirt on the warning track in the right-field corner while trying to make a leaping catch.
With Acuna on the ground and holding his knee, the hard-hit liner ricocheted off of the wall and rolled away, allowing the fleet-footed Chisholm to wheel around for an inside-the-park home run.
Acuna attempted to limp off with help, but stopped about halfway to the dugout, prompting the arrival of the cart. He was clearly shaken up, holding his head in his hands and seemingly tearing up, while concerned teammates surrounded him.
The fourth-year veteran won the NL Rookie of the Year in 2018, and was selected to his second All-Star team this season.
