The Braves got some rough news on Wednesday when it was released that Mike Soroka had a setback with his achilles that would require a return trip to Green Bay for some exploratory surgery.

Depending on what they find when they go back in, the Braves may have to deal with the idea that Soroka won't be available again this season or that he may never be the same pitcher again.

Injury Expert Will Carroll joined John and Hugh and detailed what sort of setback Soroka could have had.

"There's a couple different things this could be. It could be there's a little gap that didn't heal properly, you can't see that on the MRI. You basically shave that down and allow it to heal back up," details Carroll.

"The second is more worrisome and that's tendonosis," warns Carroll. "That's where there is an actual cellular change in the tendon. It becomes much more brittle, harder, doesn't have as much flection. Tenodonosis is the worst because it can go necrotic, where the tissue dies and you have to shave it away."

Will Carroll also explains the best and worst case scenarios for Soroka's timeline to return.

"Best prospect is it's a little bit of scarring and that's just a matter of weeks," says Carroll. "With tendonosis, it usually means your career is going to be very, very short. You definitely do not want tendonosis."
