The Atlanta Braves are back in action as they head home to Truist Park for their home opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks. After their first five games of the season, the voice of the Braves joined The Steakhouse to discuss his early takeaways of the team.
Unfortunately for the rest of Major League Baseball, they're picking up right where they left off as one of the very best teams in baseball.
"I would say first and foremost that this offense is what we saw in 2023, and that's scary for everybody else in Major League Baseball," Gaudin said about his early thoughts of the team. "The offense is just picking up right where it left off."
The Braves were a record-setting offense in 2023 and effectively scored at will throughout the course of the regular season. After upgrading in left field, they are primed to continue that run of dominance in 2024.
"[Ahead of the season], left field was a question-mark," he continued. "And so far, the early returns say that left field looks really good. Jarred Kelenic, the new pickup from Seattle, struggled in the spring, [but] has been sensational and had some wonderful at-bats. Then Adam Duvall had the biggest hit of the season so far."
To make things worse for the rest of baseball, the Atlanta Braves got better on the mound, too.
"The pitching acquisitions also looked really good," Gaudin finished. "And the headliner there is Chris Sale and Ronaldo Lopez. You've got two starters coming into a really good rotation [and just making it that much better]."
