Spencer Strider returned Tuesday night to make just his second start of the season, and while he was rusty and the performance was far from acceptable in his eyes, his comments post-game showcased exactly why he'll return to top form quickly.
"Nothing is ever really lost on Spencer Strider and that's one of the more refreshing things about him," details Grant McAuley, 92.9 the Game Braves Insider. "He realizes he's got to do his job and somebody had to be sent down in order for him to get that opportunity. This is somebody that has an awareness, he recognizes there's work to be done and he's not close to feeling as confident as back to normal as a he'd like to be from a competitors standpoint."
After the game Strider not only recognized that he needs to be better, but was brutally honest about his showing, "It’s got to be better. I didn’t execute. The stuff wasn’t consistent, mot acceptable for me." He also directly address the recent performances of Bryce Elder who had to be demoted so he could return to the rotation, "We sent a pretty good guy down that was supposed to pitch in my spot. That’s not lost on me."
