Braves 2021 Season: The key moments that led to an improbable World Series Championship

What stood out and what you may have forgotten from an 8-month title run.

The Atlanta Braves went on an improbable run that began on April Fools Day with a loss to the Phillies and ended last night with The Commissioner's Trophy being handed to Brian Snitker.

It was a season filled with twists and turns, stretches where the team looked lost and others where they looked like world-beaters, and it ended in Houston with a title.

With so much focus on the postseason run of the last three weeks it's easy to forget exactly what happened throughout the course of the season, so without further ado, here are the regular season moments and memories that shouldn't be forgotten in a championship season

Moments and Memories from the 2021 season:
• April 04--Braves open the regular season being swept by the Phillies on the road
• April 07--Braves get their first wins of the season sweeping a doubleheader against the Nationals
• April 25--Braves are 1-hit over the course of a 2-game doubleheader sweep, both losses to the Diamondbacks
• April 28--Braves get to 12-12, first time this season they are .500 after a 3rd straight win over the Cubs
• May 02--Catcher Travis d'Arnaud placed on 60-day injured list after spraining his left thumb while applying a tag at home
• May 08--Pablo Sandoval hits a 2-run pinch-hit HR in the 9th inning and the Braves score 4 runs in the 12th inning for a walk-off win over the Phillies
• May 21--Braves score season-high 20 runs in win over Pittsburgh, Acuna and Adrianza BOTH hit Grand Slams
• May 29--Braves Left Fielder Marcell Ozuna placed on leave after domestic incident
• May 31--Huascar Ynoa placed on 60-day IL with a fractured right hand after punching the clubhouse wall after a subpar start vs. the Brewers
• June 16--Second straight 10-8 loss to the Red Sox send Braves to 30-35, the most games below .500 they would be all season
• June 26--Mike Soroka lost for 2nd consecutive season after re-tearing his achilles
• June 30--Braves score 20 runs for 2nd time this season, beating Mets 20-2, five-hit game for Ozzie Albies who had 2 HR's and 7 RBI
• July 04--Max Fried's walk-off 10th inning pinch hit single delivers the Braves an 8-7 win over Miami
• July 10--Season almost feels over after Braves lose Ronald Acuna Jr. to a torn ACL
•July 15--Braves add OF Joc Pederson via trade with the Cubs for 1B Bryce Ball
• July 16--7-6 loss to Tampa Bay starts run of 18 straight games alternating wins and losses coming out of the All Star break
• July 30--MLB Trade Deadline--Braves add Jorge Soler, Adam Duvall, Eddie Rosario, and Richard Rodriguez through four separate deals
August 05--Braves sweep the Cardinals in St. Louis, move to 55-55, first time reaching .500 since losing Ronald Acuna Jr.
• August 06--Braves beat the Nationals 8-4, improving to 56-55 on the season, the first time they are above .500 all year
• August 11--Braves activate Catcher Travis d'Arnaud from 60-day IL
• August 13--Braves embark on season-defining 9-game road trip at 59-57 against 3 of the worst teams in MLB (Nationals, Marlins, and Orioles)
• August 17--Braves activate SP Huascar Ynoa from 60-day IL
August 20--Max Fried throws a CGSO with just 90 pitches (a "Maddux") in a win over Baltimore
• August 22--Braves end 9-game road trip winning every game and taking their record from 59-57 to 68-57
• Sept 19-26--Braves go 7-1 to end a 10-game road trip to San Francisco, Arizona, and San Diego
Sept 24--Max Fried throws 2nd "Maddux" of the season in a 98-pitch CGSO win over San Diego
• Sept 30--Braves complete a home sweep of the Phillies and clinch the NL East

It's such a wild run to look back on, from the stars this team lost to the key winning streaks in the 2nd half of the season, the Braves regular season was a crazy and unpredictable one that ultimately led to a postseason run to the World Series Championship.
