Earlier today on The Morning Shift, Mike Johnson, Ali Mac, and Beau Morgan explained why they think Atlanta Braves Manager Walt Weiss deserves this year’s National League Manager of the Year award.
“I feel like Walt Weiss should probably be the NL Manager of the Year. I know that he probably won’t win it. I know that Pat Murphy I believe from the [Milwaukee] Brewers is the odds on favorite, and when you win 103 games the way the Brewers did okay fine, but I don’t know that the Brewers had to deal with a lot of the things that the Braves dealt with throughout the season, not even close, and Walt Weiss deserves a lot of credit for that.” Mike Johnson said
Mike finished his thought by saying “With what you dealt with with the pitching staff you had to be very careful. He had to feel like the entire season he’s walking on the razor’s edge of overusing but also making sure you win games.”
All season long and now into the postseason it feels like Walt has pushed all the right buttons and made all the right moves at the right time in his first season as the Braves skipper, and even if he doesn’t win NL Manager of the Year this year he at least needs to be a finalist.
