Exactly a year ago today the Atlanta Braves were 0-7, and the feel around the team was a lot different than it is right now. Fast forward a year, and the Braves are 4-2 after winning their first two series of the year and Braves Manager Walt Weiss said himself that in the midst of this stretch of playing 13 straight games to open the season has been “best case scenario” for Atlanta, and earlier today The Morning Shift explained why they think Weiss' situational managing and adaptability are a big part of the Braves 4-2 start.

“I love the situational managing”. Beau Morgan said

Beau finished his thought by saying “I just like the fact that he’s not stuck in it’s always this way. He’s willing to change and adapt, it’s been fun to watch, just with that with putting Ozzie [Albies] at third in the order to switch up the order a little bit when there’s a lefty on the mound.”

Beau also mentions Walt’s early season decisions to platoon Mike Yastrzemski based on if there’s a right handed or left handed pitcher on the mound, and keeping Drake Baldwin in the batting lineup even if he’s not catching that game since his bat has been so hot to start the season.

The Braves skipper has shown early in the 2026 campaign that he has the adaptability needed to make sure his players and team are always in a position to succeed, and that he’s willing to take chances at times as well, and so far Atlanta’s new skipper has pushed all the right buttons.
