The MLB trade deadline came and passed Monday without the Braves dealing at the deadline for another starter after the team got Tommy Milone yesterday. Dukes & Bell talked about the confidence in the team moving forward.
Carl asked the question how confident are you in this team after the deadline.
“How confident are you because this is it, you’re not going to do anything else? You’re basically saying, 'I believe in Fried,'" Dukes said. “You hope now, keeping your fingers crossed that Cole Hamels can come back and give you something this month. It’s September, he’s got to show us in the next few weeks that he can give us something.
"Who else are you leaning on? Milone is a starter, yes. And you’re trying to get some help there. Who else? Ian Anderson? Ian Anderson, right?”
Mike said Cole Hamels has to step up.
“Cole Hamels has got to be able to produce," Said Bell. "He needs to be able to step up and go. I don’t know what the time table is there. I know he’s an older pitcher now who just can’t seem to stay healthy. But he’s got a chance to contribute and there will be some pressure there."
