Chris Sale and Blake Snell put on a show on Monday night. The two All-Stars combined for 33 strikeouts in a 1-0 Braves victory in extra innings. Sale has been a saving grace for the Braves this season as the starting staff has dealt with multiple injuries.
The club has not been able to count on their usual cast of stars for either injury or ineffectiveness. Matt Olson and Austin Riley have vastly underperformed compared to their 2023 seasons. Charlie Morton has not been his usual reliable self sporting a 4.50 ERA. Pierce Johnson and Aaron Bummer have not been reliable out of the bullpen either.
As the club continues to fight to hold onto a Wild Card spot the team needs its stars to perform closer to the back of their baseball cards. With Michael Harris due back at the end of the week, the team hopes that will be a shot in the arm that is much needed.
