The Atlanta Braves have seemingly been able to get themselves on track having won nine of their last 14 games and finally reaching .500 for the first time this season. And while offensive production has not been consistent as they desired, one player in particular has brought 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bel to the conclusion the Braves need to consider trading Sean Murphy.
“Let’s just be completely honest Braves country, Drake Baldwin’s that dude and it’s time to start exploring trades for Sean Murphy,” Dukes said on Monday as he explained why he believes the performance of Baldwin, who is season batting .357 with five homeruns and nine RBIs and has only gone hitless twice in the month of May with a .531 average in the month.
“There is no reason to even think about just continuing to run a mediocre Sean Murphy out there,” Dukes continued noting Murphy’ subpar production at the plate, batting .232 with eight homeruns on the season, which he believes supports his call for Atlanta to move on from the veteran pitcher, opting for Baldwin.
“This kid is hitting over the last 14 games .500! What are we doing? Why are we even talking about running Sean Murphy back out there?” Dukes asked as he expressed why he believes Baldwin is the better option for the Braves’ lineup. “How do you keep this kid out of the lineup?” Bell asked, agreeing with Dukes on the Braves needing to consider trading Murphy.
