Some Braves fans are nervous about the team playing the Phillies in the NLDS this season simply because of the fact that they don’t want to lose to Philadelphia in the NLDS for a second straight year.
Does it mean more if the Braves are eliminated from the postseason by the Phillies for a second straight season, or does it not matter because anything less than a World Series for Atlanta is a disappointment?
The Morning Shift debated it this morning, and Beau believes it doesn’t matter, so Braves fans shouldn’t be worried about the Phillies.
“This season is a failure if you lose to anyone in the playoffs because you are the best team in baseball from start to finish, it's been a magical ride, you’ve got seven of your nine starters having career seasons, so it doesn’t matter who you lose to. This season is a disappointment if we’re not having a freaking parade.” Beau said.
Mike Johnson disagrees and thinks Braves fans have an argument by saying it means more if you are eliminated by the Phillies in the NLDS for a second straight postseason.
“You cannot tell me that it doesn’t mean more to lose to Philly than it does any other team in the National League. It’s not about being scared.” Johnson said.
Beau rebuttals by saying “The Braves should win the World Series, if they don’t win the World Series this season is a let down.” I’m sorry, if you get hurt feelings over that then go cry about it. I don’t care. This is the reality of the situation: it doesn't matter who beats you.”
You don’t want to give the Phillies any sort of bragging rights of course, but at this point this postseason isn’t just about beating the Phillies it’s about finishing off a dominant, historic, and magical season with a World Series championship.
