You can still be a glass-half-full Falcons fan, but should you be?

I think the most interesting part of my job here at the station is that I am the first person every Sunday after a Falcons game who gets to gauge the pulse of the everyday Falcons fan. Right after watching the Falcons, you call me on my Falcons Flyover Show and give me your instant reaction.

Now recently, for the past four weeks, the pulse of Falcons fans has been pretty easy to predict. Anger, sadness, depression... I mean come on, the Falcons are 0-4. Life stinks if you’re a fan of this football team.

But with all of this pain and misery you as a Falcons fan have a choice. There’s a clear option that must be decided upon.

Will you be a glass half full Falcons fan for the rest of the year or a glass half empty?

Now I know what you’re thinking. “Thomas there aren’t any glass half full Falcons fans right now.” I’d stop you right there and disagree. I’ve heard from them. I’ve talked to them and trust me they exist. Heck, looking out the rest of the NFC South and the Falcons upcoming schedule. I’m leaning toward being a glass half full Falcons Fan.

Alright so two options. Glass half full or glass half empty Falcons fan.
I’m going to put my role-playing hat on and you can decide which one you are.

Let’s start with Glass half empty. Ready?

This team is terrible. I can’t remember a time when the Falcons were this embarrassing. Oh wait, yes I can because it literally happened last season.

Todd Gurley looks old, Julio Jones is now always hurt. Dirk Koetter has some of the worst offensive game plans in the NFL and they seem to have zero interest in closing games out when they have a lead.

Not to mention the defense is decimated with injuries and is likely to give up 400 yards of passing on any given day. Raheem Morris went from the savior of this defense to scapegoat in the span of half a season.

Alright what do you think? Pretty accurate representation of the glass half empty Falcons fans huh?

Now let’s be honest.. That’s probably you right now if you’re listening.

OK time for something positive. Here’s the glass half full Falcons fans that I know are out there somewhere.

The offense can scores points, we know that. Even without Julio, Ridley and Russell Gage have been fantastic. This team is a stupid onside kick blunder and Nick Foles magic away from being 2-2.

Wanna know the best part? The rest of the NFC South kinda stinks. Technically the Falcons are only two games out of first place! Brady and Brees look old and the Panthers' best player is on IR.

The Falcons next five games are all against losing teams. Their next five opponents, Carolina, Minnesota, Detroit, Carolina and Denver have a combined record of 7-13. Of that group, only Carolina has more than one win.

If Atlanta can win on Sunday against the Panthers and start a little streak, they could be .500 by the bye week and have a chance to remain relevant during the second half of the year. It’s not. Over. Yet.

There you go. Glass half full Falcons fan right there. So which one are you? Have you already thrown in the towel after four games or are you excited about the cake walk over the next five games?
