“It’s gonna be an exciting brand of football, this team’s gonna compete, we get it. You can make all the excuses, we’re not gonna make one damn excuse,” Smith said. “This team’s gonna go down there, we’ve got nine home games at Mercedes Benz, this team’s gonna fly around, gonna compete, gonna play well situationally and we’re gonna try to knock you out. And that’s the kind of guys we brought in here, we’ve got a lot of guys that are veterans that were on that team last year that found way to close games and we’ve got to continue to close the gap and win more games so we’re playing in the postseason and we’ve got to do our part.”

Smith talked about the team being a representation of the city of Atlanta.

“This team should represent this city, this is a tough city, it’s a city that loves football as a state it’s football rich, we’ve gotta fit that style down here. The state of Georgia produces tough freaking football players, I almost put it out there but I’m passionate about this, but the state Georgia we fit that. We talk about the ethos and that culture that makes this up and that’s the product it’s gonna be there, it’s gonna to be different and this team’s gonna play with a chip on its shoulder and we’re gonna coach with a chip on our shoulder. We’re not making any excuses and it’s gonna be an exciting brand of football.”
