After the Falcons latest loss, a 25-15 defeat to Carolina on Thursday, questions began to arose once again about the QB play and while Arthur Smith did defend the play of Marcus Mariota, he didn't straight up say he'd continue as the starter.
92.9 The Game's Atlanta Falcons Reporter Joe Patrick felt there may be some hidden messages in Coach Arthur Smith's comments, including not backing Marcus Mariota to the extent that he had before.
"The odds of him (Mariota) not being the QB in 2 weeks have gone up quite a bit. I felt like he did defend Mariota to an extent, taking the blame off him, but I came away thinking it was not as ardent a defense of Mariota that he could have made in a situation like that," says Joe Patrick, "and I actually felt the odds of seeing Ridder went up after hearing what Arthur Smith had to say."
The Falcons host the Bears on Sunday, and some wonder if Ridder could see the field this week if the offense isn't productive in the first half.
