Michael Penix Jr. shows Falcons 'are really good team with quality QB play'

Falcons notch first win as Michael Penix Jr. returns as QB1

After getting off to an 0-2 start of the 2026 NFL Season, the Atlanta Falcons traveled to Green Bay to face the Packers to kick off Week 3 with Michael Penix Jr. returning as their starting quarterback, after a season-ending ACL tear last season sidelined him for 10 months.

And despite heading into Lambeau Field as a five-and-a-half-point underdog, the Falcons earned their first win of the season as they defeated the Packers 35-14, with Penix Jr. completing 18 of his 25 pass attempts for 256 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

“The question now is, what happens next? Well what happens next is [Michael] Penix gets more confident, he’s feeling great, the playbook expands and even more cool stuff happens,” 92-9 The Game’s Mike Bell said as he and Chris Thomas, sitting in for Carl Dukes, reacted to Penix Jr.’s return and the impact it had on the Atlanta offense on Thursday.
