ATLANTA – (JANUARY 4, 2026) -- Head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot have been dismissed from their roles following a meeting Sunday in Atlanta with Falcons owner and chairman, Arthur Blank, the team announced via release.
The Falcons’ 2025 season ended earlier Sunday after a home game versus New Orleans.
Morris was named head coach following the 2023 season and served as Atlanta’s interim head coach during the final 11 games in the 2020 season. During his tenure as head coach the last two seasons, the Falcons finished 8-9 in 2024 and 8-9 in 2025. He completes his tenure in Atlanta with an overall record of 16-18 with no playoff appearances. With Morris as interim head coach for the final 11 games in 2020, the Falcons were 4-7. Fontenot completed his fifth season in Atlanta after joining the Falcons in 2021. The Falcons record during his tenure was 37-48, with no playoff appearances.
“I have great personal affinity for both Raheem and Terry and appreciate their hard work and dedication to the Falcons, but I believe we need new leadership in these roles moving forward,” said Blank. “The decision to move away from people who represent the organization so well and have a shared commitment to the values that are important to the organization is not an easy one, but the results on the field have not met our expectations or those of our fans and leadership. I wish Raheem and Terry the absolute best in their future pursuits.”
