Evan Washburn: Bijan Robinson in NFL's best offensive player conversation

After being named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September Bijan Robinson continues to prove that he’s not only one of the best running backs in the NFL, but one of the best players in the NFL period.

Reporter, host, and analyst for CBS Sports Evan Washburn joined The Morning Shift earlier today, and Mike Johnson asked him what he thought about Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Raheem Morris calling Robinson the best player in the NFL, and while Evan didn’t quite agree with that statement he does believe Bijan is in the conversation of being one of the best offensive players in the NFL.

“I think Bijan potentially could be in that conversation with some of the best offensive players in our league, and he’s well on his way just with the way he’s started his career, but the way he’s handled this season. I think you see a difference this year, and I think that goes with maturity, the way he handled the offseason…”

Evan continued by saying “We got to touch on it in the broadcast the fact that he could spend time with a guy like Christian McCaffrey who has a lot of the similar skills that Bijan has, but I would argue Bijan can take it to another level…”

Washburn finished his thought by talking about how the biggest key to Bijan cementing himself as one of the best players in the NFL is just staying healthy.

“The biggest key is remaining healthy and that’s such a challenging spot in that position because they’re really asking him to do so much. I mean he’s basically playing two positions for this Falcons’ offense which means he’s twice as likely to be in a compromised spot to get injured.” Evan said

Through the first four weeks, Robinson has logged 64 carries for 314 yards and one touchdown, along with 18 receptions for 270 yards and one touchdown. Robinson leads the NFL in total yards from scrimmage with 584.

As Washburn pointed out, as long as the former eighth overall pick can stay relatively healthy it truly does feel like the sky is the limit for Bijan because his 181 scrimmage yards last week marked his 10th straight game with at least 90 scrimmage yards, the longest active streak in the NFL.

Robinson’s performance versus the Commanders last week also marked his 22nd career game with at least 100 yards from scrimmage, a number that leads the NFL since he joined the league in 2023. Robinson is also the only running back to have recorded 100 receiving yards in multiple games since 2023, doing so three times, including twice in September, and don’t forget this is only year three for Bijan and that’s why it feels like the sky is the limit for him.
