Could the Falcons be planning to trade out of the #8 pick?

After losing Kirk Cousins to the Atlanta Falcons in free agency, the Minnesota Vikings are in search of a long-term answer. They have added Sam Darnold on a one-year deal, but after a move to acquire an extra first round pick in 2024, many believe they are preparing to move up in the draft to select a QB, and the Falcons could ultimately be the benefactor depending on how things play out.

The Atlanta Falcons have answered a few of their offseason questions, finding their QB1 in Kirk Cousins, and possibly rounding out the receiver room with Darnell Mooney, Rondale Moore, and Ray-Ray McCloud, but there are still plenty of weak spots along the depth chart and the Falcons can only solve one of them with the #8 pick, but could possibly trade down and acquire extra picks in the first or second round.

The Vikings now hold the 11th overall pick and the 23rd overall pick. Trading back would allow the Falcons to still select a top-flight rookie pass rusher and possibly add a secondary piece, an offensive lineman, or even a second pass rusher in the first round.
