Dave Archer makes case Desmond Ridder’s only preseason mistake wasn't a mistake at all
Atlanta Falcons Radio Network analyst Dave Archer analyzes Desmond Ridder’s single preseason mistake
Last Friday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, Desmond Ridder saw the field for the first time since Week 18 of the 2022 season. Ridder had a mostly positive performance, completing 7 of 9 passes for 80 yards. He showcased his ability to move the chains, connecting with receivers like Drake London and Kyle Pitts for crucial first downs, and even found Bijan Robinson down the field.
Ridder's only mistake of the night was a poorly timed pass to Scotty Miller, which was deflected into the air and intercepted by Joseph Ossai, ending the night for most of the starting offense.
Atlanta Falcons Radio Network analyst Dave Archer joined The Morning Shift as was asked about the pass to Miller. Arch is under the belief that the defender committed pass interference and the referee missed the call.
Archer recalls a play slightly earlier in the drive with a similar throwing window that was successful, leaving it difficult for him to agree that Ridder’s decision making in that moment was poor.
