With Atlanta Falcons starting right tackle Kaleb McGary set to miss significant time and his backup Storm Norton probably out until the Falcons’ bye week Elijah Wilkinson is the next man up.
However, earlier today former Atlanta Falcons quarterback and now analyst for the Atlanta Falcons Radio Network Dave Archer told The Morning Shift that he can't imagine the Falcons aren't going to be keeping an eye on the waiver wire to see who gets cut, and if there are any offensive lineman that hit the open market that could potentially help the Falcons.
“I can’t imagine that they’re not looking elsewhere trying to find someone that’s gonna ultimately appear here in the next 48 hours that they feel like is an upgrade over some of those developmental pieces and hope that they can slip some of those guys through and do put them on the development practice squad, so looks like it’s Elijah Wilkinson at right tackle right now, and then they’re trying to find that other guy, that swing tackle I think it’s a big deal.” Archer said
Offensive line probably is the position group the Falcons have the least amount of depth, or at least quality depth at, so if and when there are some surprising cuts made that involve some good to serviceable offensive lineman there’s a good chance the Falcons will be active on the waiver wire.
