Maybe what we are seeing from Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder would not appear to be disappointing if expectations for the second-year signal-caller were managed heading into this season. And when listening to Atlanta Falcons Radio Network play-by-play voice Wes Durham, who joined The Steakhouse on Friday, the fact that last season Ridder only started in four games may have been enough to realize that there was simply not enough body of NFL work to expect Ridder to be performing at a higher level.
“We had a small sample size last year and I always thought that there was going to be highs and lows this year,” Durham explained to Steak Shapiro and Sandra Golden Friday morning as he responded to Golden’s thoughts on seeing the struggles of the Ridder-led offense. Durham would expound on his comments, adding that an area of concern for Ridder is the uptick in his pass attempts recently and that “for a young guy to throw the ball that much, unless he is spectacular and a No. 1 pick, that makes it tough.
"I think that’s the issue. You don’t want him to throw the ball as much because you can really run it as a good football team,” Durham said.
