Why Eddie Goldman is Falcons' most important defensive free agent

The Morning Shift explains why the veteran defensive tackle is the free agent the Falcons need to prioritize bringing back this offseason

Right now the Atlanta Falcons have 13 unrestricted free agents and 3 restricted free agents on the defensive side of the ball, and earlier today The Morning Shift explained why veteran defensive tackle Eddie Goldman is the free agent the Falcons need to prioritize bringing back this offseason.

“The one guy that I’m looking at that I absolutely have to have and I would go to bat for is Eddie Goldman. Eddie Goldman does something that nobody else on your team does, and that’s stop the run and hold the point.” Mike Johnson said.

When Mike talks about Eddie Goldman being good at stopping the run and holding the point of attack, those are things that don’t necessarily translate into big numbers and stats, but every good defense needs a run stopper and a guy that can collapse the middle of the pocket and that’s exactly what Eddie Goldman did for the Falcons last season, so if the veteran is willing to come back and play for the Falcons Terry Fontenot needs to have getting that deal done towards the top of his list of priorities.
